Abstract
Direct and selective hydrolytic hydrogenation of cellulose was carried out over catalytic amounts of nickel salt. C4-C6
polyols were obtained with an 87.9% yield in a neutral aqueous solution without an aid of liquid phase acid at the
temperature of 150 °C in the presence of NiSO4.
